Welcome to the June 2009 issue of the Aspose Newsletter! In this month’s newsletter, we will provide some introductory information about our spotlight product: Aspose.Pdf.Kit. We will also look at the new and exciting features offered in the recent releases of Aspose.Editor, Aspose.Words and Aspose.BarCode for Reporting Services. We will also provide information about migrating your code for MS Office Automation to Aspose using Aspose.Cells. You will learn about the latest news from Aspose along with the monthly technical article, which demonstrates how to create Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts via Aspose.Cells. In addition to this, we will introduce the latest tutorial video from Aspose, which shows you how to convert an Excel file to PDF format using Aspose.Cells.


Product Spotlight

[![][2] is a non-graphical PDF® document manipulation component that enables both .NET and Java developers to manage existing PDF files as well as manage form fields embedded within PDF files. Support for changing Text, Description and Shortcut properties of standard commands in Aspose.Editor for .NET

[![][4] for .NET has been released. In this release we have introduced the ability to change the standard commands properties such as Text, Description and the Shortcut. We have also added three new methods; EditorBars.Rebuild, Range.CopyDocument and Range.PasteDocument. Also included with this release are numerous other improvements and bug fixes. Rich Text Format (RTF) and OpenDocument Text (ODT) supported in Aspose.Words for Java

[![][8] for Java version 3.0.0.0 has been released. In this release, support for reading and writing files in the RTF format of any version has been added. Over 95% of the RTF 1.8 Specification is supported and unknown keywords (unsupported or from newer specifications) are safely ignored. We have also added support for loading OpenDocument 1.1 and 1.2 documents as well as saving them in the OpenDocument 1.1 format. Export Word documents to PDF/A-1b with Aspose.Words for .NET

[![][12] for .NET has been released. Aspose.Words for .NET now supports exporting PDF documents that comply with the PDF/A-1b standard. A new option PdfOptions.Compliance has been added, using which, you can specify that the output PDF documents comply with PDF/A-1b or PDF 1.5 standards. Full support for Microsoft SSRS 2008 in Aspose.BarCode for Reporting Services

[![][16] version 1.9.0.0 has been released. In this release we have added full support for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services and compatibility with 64-bit Windows Operating Systems. In this release we have also updated the design-time property builder of the BarCode control and added support for rendering Matrix 2 of 5 barcode. In addition to this, the new release also includes numerous other improvements and bug fixes. Migration from MS Office Automation to Aspose – Aspose.Cells

[![][20] your Microsoft Office Automation code for adding borders to a Cell in a Worksheet. We show you how to use the Range object to set borders of the Cells and specify different borderline styles. You can find the detailed article with complete code [here][21].


Technical Article – Create Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts

[![][22] component. Aspose.Cells provides a special set of classes that are used to create and set the PivotTables objects, which act as the basic building blocks of a PivotTable. In this article, we create a C# console application in Visual Studio to perform this task using Aspose.Cells API. We also provide the equivalent Java code for your reference. Tutorial Video – Convert Excel file to PDF

[![][24] APIs. We create a simple Windows application to demonstrate this task. We load/open an Excel file, and then convert it to PDF format. The generated PDF file can be opened in Adobe Reader. You can see how easy it is to perform the task with just a few lines of code. You can view the video [here][25].
